 I've spent more than twenty years working with groups of people under pressure.

On rivers and lakes. On hillsides and fields. In boardrooms where the stakes were real and the answers weren't obvious.

What I learned — slowly, through hundreds of sessions with hundreds of different people — is that groups already have most of what they need. They don't need someone to hand them the answer. They need the right conditions, the right structure, and someone who knows when to hold back and when to ask the question that unlocks the room.

That's what I do. And it's what EddyLine UK is built around.

 

Why EddyLine

An eddy is a feature of moving water — a calm pocket that forms behind an obstruction in the current. When paddling I use eddies to pause, read what's ahead, and recover before re-entering the flow with clearer direction and stronger intention.

That's the exact shape of the work EddyLine UK does with leaders and teams. Not rest for the sake of rest. A deliberate pause that gives you what you need to move forward better.

The approach

The sessions I run are structured and carefully held. But the work belongs to the people in the room. My job is to create the conditions for an honest conversation — to hold the space, ask the questions that matter, and keep things moving without taking over. The breakthrough, when it comes, belongs to the team. That's not a small thing. A team that finds its own way through something difficult carries that confidence forward. They don't need me to come back and do it again.

Experience

Before EddyLine UK, I spent two decades as a freelance outdoor instructor and facilitator — working with corporate groups, professional sports teams, schools, and young people completing Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

Every environment was different. The work was always the same: put a group under real pressure, hold the conditions carefully, ask the right questions, and let them find their own way through.

That body of experience — practical, human, and hard-won — is what EddyLine UK is built on.
